Our Mission
At Michelle's House, home of the Sickle Cell Disease Association of America, Connecticut (SCDAA.CT), we embrace prevention strategies to enhance the quality of life and well-being of the community affected by sickle cell disease (SCD), traits and related conditions and provide individuals and families with critical education and access to support services through
partnerships and advocacy.
Our Vision
To enhance all aspects of the quality of life of the sickle cell community inclusive of finding a cure!
Recent state data shows
a 17% increase in the number
of babies born with the sickle cell trait (SCT).
National annual percentage of students that repeat a grade: 4.5% without SCD, up to 40% with SCD.
In Connecticut, nearly 40,000 residents carry the sickle cell trait (SCT).
